Thank you for presenting the Palestinian view of this conflict in a well-written and cogent article. Coverage of this conflict has been overwhelmingly one-sided. It's easier for people to post pictures of flags and gruesome images on social media than to do the heavy labor of researching the region's history or undergo the pain of talking to inhabitants.

And before anyone starts squawking about "OMG SHE HATES THE JEWS AND DEFENDS TERRORISM," let me explain my background. 15 years ago, I was an EMT with the Israeli Red Cross in South Ashkelon (about 5 miles from the Gaza border), which just saw 900 casualties this past week. As a Jew who used to live in that neighborhood, I was devastated. I'm equally as devastated by the thought of a massive humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

One of my childhood best friends is Palestinian. We have been texting back and forth all week about our mutual grief. Thankfully his family is ok- they're in Ramallah for now. I hope that in our time of darkness both sides can work together to find a way forward.
