I'm fortunate to have perceived this brutal conflict through multiple viewpoints. I'm Jewish American and used to be an EMT with the Israeli Red Cross in Jerusalem and South Ashkelon (about 5 mi from the Gaza border.) One of my closest friends since 7th grade is Palestinian; we're now almost 40 yrs old and we still talk a few times a week. One of my college boyfriends was Catholic from County Armagh in Northern Ireland. Together, the three of us have three Honors bachelors degrees, two Masters, and a PhD. There are some very smart people on both sides. Sit them down for a talk. And make sure there's a seat at the table for Palestinians, who receive significantly less media coverage than Israelis.
