I would give this 1000 claps if I could! 15 years ago, I was an EMT in South Ashkelon, which just saw about 900 casualties; most people would assume that with that background, I'd be militantly and vengefully pro-war. I'm devastated that this tragedy happened. But I don't want to see more deaths happen in Gaza. That's not going to remotely solve any problems.
Since this happened, I've been texting back and forth with one of my old college boyfriends, who I dated about 16 years ago. He's Muslim from northern India (last name Ahmad) and I'm Jewish. We had a great relationship that ended when college did (as many do.) We both agree that demonizing the other side isn't the way to move forward with the peace process.
