I don't know if I should post this. But here goes. I was a small-town landlord who rented out two $400/month bedrooms in a very large group house (3000+ sq ft.) I wasn't a slumlord- it was a beautiful Victorian castle with granite countertops, two ovens, two fridges, two washer/dryers, fire pit, three porches, mature pear and cherry trees on 2/3 acre, only two blocks from public transit. Then the pandemic hit and everything changed. I know I broke the zoning law for occupancy. But I didn't want to see anyone homeless. We ultimately ended up with two families living there (it's a 7bed/4ba, so it wasn't overcrowded.) I'm not a rule-breaker but I'm not sorry for what I did.
