15 years ago, I was an EMT in South Ashkelon, which just saw about 900 casualties this past week. However, I have the unique perspective of knowing what Gaza looks like. I've been to the border checkpoint before (just once though) to transport a Palestinian patient. Let me tell you what I saw: a crater of concrete rubble ringed by barbed wire. Gaza has 75% youth unemployment and zero infrastructure. The first step in the peace process (after removing both Hamas and Netanyahu) should be a massive effort by the UN to rebuild Gaza. Roads, hospitals, schools, permanent housing- refugees have been living in tents for 40 plus years. I don't want to see any more injuries or deaths for anyone. There are very smart people on both sides. Sit them down at the table and figure a way forward.
